Avocados have a special place in our hearts here at Wildwood. Whether they’re for guacamole, tacos, or avocado toast. To add some extra flavor to the avocado, we decided to grill it on an Alder plank. Alder wood produces a subtle smoke flavor that transfers nicely.

Ingredients:

Chef's Tip

Grill the bread briefly
to give it grill marks
and smoky flavor!

Directions:

  1. Soak the Alder plank in hot water for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven or grill to 400°F.
  3. Slice avocados in half and remove pit. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  4. Place avocados on plank (with the inside down).
  5. Cook for 10 minutes.
  6. Flip avocados to have skin down on the plank and top with tomatoes, mozzarella. Cook an additional 10 minutes.
  7. When done, serve on bread with the sprouts and a squeeze of lemon juice.
  8. Enjoy!
