Wood smoked food is taking the world by storm these days. But during these colder months, many people don’t want to stand outside by their grill to get delicious wood-flavored food. Check out our blog: How to grill in a tiny NYC apartment without a grill

Using wood grilling wraps is a great way to not only infuse delicious Cedar or Alder flavor into your food, but also to keep it moist and juicy.

For those who don’t want to brave the weather, grilling wraps (despite their name) can also be used without a grill. In the oven.

How to use Cedar & Alder Wraps in the Oven

  • First, soak your wraps in water for up to 5 minutes. You’re just trying to get them more pliable by making them nice and wet.
  • Then, add your food (if you need recipe inspiration, we’ve got you covered) in the wrap along the grain of the wood. Secure with twine.
  • Once the oven is preheated, add the filled wraps to the middle rack. Place an aluminum-foil-lined cookie sheet to the bottom rack to catch any drippings (keeps your oven clean!).
  • Cook as desired and serve!
