Tilapia is great for many reasons – it’s affordable, easily available, versatile, and cooks really fast. Since it is a delicate fish, it really benefits from the gentle nature of plank cooking.

  • 2 Cedar Grilling Planks
  • 4 Tilapia filets
  • 2 oz. Butter, softened
  • 1 Tbsp. Jalapeno, diced
  • 1 Lime, juice and zest
  • Pinch of salt

Chef's Tip

This recipe could make for some fantastic tacos!


  1. Preheat a grill to 400°F and soak the planks in hot water for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Combine the butter, jalapeño, and lime. Mix well.
  3. Season the fish with salt and set on the planks, place on the grill and cook for 10 minutes or until cooked.
  4. When the fish is ready spoon some butter on each filet while they are still hot.

*Keep a spray bottle of water handy in case of flare-ups.
