Artichokes make for a beautiful presentation and delicious snack or side for any meal. Serve with your favorite protein, or serve it at your next dinner party. We chose a Cedar plank for this healthy and tasty vegetable to infuse a spicy and fragrant smoke flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 7 x 15” Cedar Plank
  • 2 large Artichokes
  • 3 Lemons
  • 1 Tbs. Olive Oil
  • 1 stick Butter
  • 2 Tbs. Capers

When buying artichokes,
you should look for ones
that squeak when squeezed.
It’s a sign it’s fresh!

Directions:

  1. Soak Cedar Plank in hot water for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Remove tough outer leaves of artichoke, using scissors snip leaves to remove thorns, slice off the very top of the artichoke, then cut artichokes in half stem to top. Immediately rub the entire artichoke with lemon.
  3. Remove the choke and interior leaves – rub with more lemon.
  4. Steam the artichokes for 10 minutes.
  5. Preheat grill to 350°F.
  6. Place artichokes cut side down on the plank, place wedges of lemon around the artichokes and drizzle with olive oil.
  7. Place plank on grill and cook with the lid closed for 15-20 minutes or until the artichoke hearts are tender when tested with a fork.
  8. Have a spray bottle of water handy for flare-ups.
  9. Melt butter and brighten it up with a squeeze of lemon juice to you liking.
  10. Remove artichokes from the grill, serve hot with melted lemon butter and capers.
  11. Enjoy!
