Chef Doug is a North Carolina mountain man that loves the country. He grew up on a farm where he had to learn how to work hard.

A talented individual who takes great pride in his work, he always tries to find new fun ways to work with the normal everyday foods to make the familiar more fun. Doug loves to prepare delicious farm-to-table meals perfectly paired with choice meats, fresh vegetables, and special salads.

It’s his belief that a good meal should be made from scratch and is committed to bringing local, fresh ingredients to his guests’ table. Chef Doug’s cooking provides the perfect balance of comfort, ingenuity, and creativity while incorporating Southern classics and local influences.

Doug has appeared on ABC, Food Network, and Ingles Chef Table.  He has also been featured in publications such as Mountain XPress, Asheville Citizen Times and WV Charleston Gazette.

What are you most often grilling?

Tomahawk steak, hands down.

What is the weirdest thing you’ve ever eaten? 

Cow heart.

What’s your favorite thing to cook on a plank? 

I really love salmon on a cedar plank. You can’t go wrong.

What does a typical grilled dinner look like for you and your family?

All courses on a grill, especially over the fire. Makes it have more of that wood taste.

What’s your favorite condiment?

Horseradish.

What is the best meal you’ve ever eaten?

My wife’s spaghetti and meatballs.
